Q: A question I have about the DIY toothpaste is the use of activated charcoal. I recently read that charcoal actually scratches enamel off of teeth. What information do you have about this?
A: Both charcoal and ESPECIALLY baking soda have the ability to wear down enamel. With that said, so does conventional toothpaste and even your toothbrush. The amount of charcoal and soda used is minimal. The technique and amount of powder you use is important. You should only be using a VERY tiny amount on your toothbrush (less than pea size for regular toothpaste and just the very tip for the powder) and when you brush you do not need to apply pressure. Over brushing can and does cause enamel loss. Use just your thumb and pointer finger and that will give you an idea of how much pressure to apply. Brush in small circles.
Q. I spoke to my holistic dentist regarding my chipped tooth, I mentioned the horsetail and that it helps to regenerate the enamel of our teeth (page 4 of transcript). My dentist says that’s not possible, that enamel stops being generated as soon as the tooth pushes through the gum. Please, would you send me the resources and any studies for how the horsetail regenerates enamel?
A. This is definitely the ‘official story’ they are told in school. With that said, the technology part of it (not the holistic herbal medicine wisdom) is only now verging on this…A simple google search will support the claim that it is POSSIBLE – You just have to be willing to trust ancient wisdom and give the horsetail a try
Q. Is it possible that enamel will grow over the chipped part of my tooth?
A. I don’t know. Anything is possible. (my thoughts – a small chip – w/ perfect diet, oral hygiene, and supplements – yes. A large chip – NO)
Q. I’ve been drinking 1 teaspoon of the horsetail powder (I purchased from your website) in a glass of water for 4 days now, and will continue to do so until I reach 7-10 days. I understand this is a maintenance dose. What dose is recommended for compromised teeth?
A. See your dentist for emergencies. Balanced diet, good oral hygiene, supplements. But, keep up on the maintenance dose with a 3 week break in between. Pack any cracks or holes with the paste daily for the same amount of time.
Q: I have questions about your Equisetum Hyemale product. Where do I find more information?
